Hana Kimi (based on a Japanese manga) will go definitely make it to my Asian TV series “All Time Favorite” List.

Interestingly enough, I didn’t hear much about this series before. One day, I just saw online a seriously boy-like girl and wondered if she is really the female lead of the story. Normally, the female leads in Asian drama all look prettier than the other females in the story. Even when they’re supposed to be plainer. *laughs*

I was instantly intrigued with Rui Xi’s character, an obese girl who flew across the ocean to Taiwan to meet the star athlete she saw on TV and served as her inspiration in losing weight. In order to be near him, she cuts her long hair short and managed disguising her gender to enroll to an exclusive boy school.

An icing on the cake is that her love interest, Zuo Yu Quan (played by Wu Chun) is very handsome and talented. Wu Chun portrayed the character of the Quan so well. He’s a former star athlete who struggles overcoming the pressure caused by the very same people who supports him - family and fans.

In addition, they selected talented actors to play the supporting roles as well. It’s combining good story plot and good casting that makes Hana Kimi one of my all time favorites. I can’t help it but blog more about Hana Kimi later. :)
