“Triumph in the Skies” theme song

Is it hard for you to find any romantic drama to measure up ever since “Coffee Shop Prince”? How about checking out one my classic favorites? This miniseries would have won an Emmy if it was aired in the US (and remade with American actors) because of its good plot and great casting - Francis Ng, Myolie Wu, Flora Chan.

“Triump in the Skies” is a 2003, Hong Kong Television Broadcast (HKTVB) production. The story revolves around the life and work of pilots, in particular Samuel Tong, a promising talented pilot of Solar Airways. In a stopover trip to Rome, Samuel meets Isabelle Lok, a helpless romantic who believed Sam is the guy destined for her after he’s found her lost bracelet several times. Belle and Sam had a strong attraction for each other but had chose not to divulge each other’s personal information. A series of unexpected things happen that led Belle to believe Sam’s a player and vice versa.

Meanwhile, Zoe So plays the role of a very kind hearted, cheerful and highly optimistic young lady who is more than ten years younger than Sam. She develops a huge crush and admiration on Sam when they first met at a plane that Sam flew. Sam went to comfort her at the passengers seating area, as a professional pilot, that she will arrive safe when she had a panic attack.

Sam and Belle’s path cross once again in Hong Kong a year later. This time, Belle’s already dating Vincent, another pilot who happens to be Sam’s best friend. Despite Bell and Sam second guessing each other, they both want clarifications from each other. Zoe character slowly evolves in the story. Her character starts out annoying because she always unintentionally seem to be in between Sam and Belle. She accidentally picks up a doll called triangel that Sam found for Belle in Rome. This doll has huge significance to Belle as it represents destiny.

Zoe gets turned down by Sam even after Belle married Vincent. Sam felt Zoe is too young for him. Sam soon learns that Zoe’s more mature than him to some degrees. She’s been fighting a battle with a heart disease for many years with persistence. In the end, Sam develops strong feelings for Zoe when all the doubts he’s had in the past was cleared. He provides support to her in fighting for her life.
