Deejay Philly Bunt filled the room, on the second floor of the DC club (Love), with pulsing jam after jam late Saturday night. Sinewy silhouettes slithered, bumped, and ground to the beat with fluorescent, pink drinks raised in the air as the DJ continued to rock the club. Notorious MSG exploded onto the stage around 1:00 AM, and began to command the crowd.
They took us on a journey back to the Chinatown Ghetto with “No Good Muthabitch”. They rapped, danced, sang, and stripped. The ladies swooned as Down LoMein broke it down with his rendition of Lionel Ritchie’s “Hello”. Without missing a beat, the group transitioned from “Hello” into one of their all-time classics: “Dim Sum Girl”.
After having broke it down for the lovely ladies in the audience, they reloaded and sprayed the us again with their verbal AK-47s. Entertained us with their quick wit. Amazed us with their versatility–their drummer (Noodles) also played guitar and Hunan Bomb also played drums. Ultimately, they left the crowd wanting more.
If you’ve never checked out Notorious MSG, then you’ve got to!
