Check out another “bloody” good movie of Hong Kong A-list actor, Andy Lau. Although, I’ve said before that Hong Kong gangster movies has grown old for me, this one sure look enticing. Andy Lau is joined by other notable actors like Wong Yat-wa, Miu Gui Wai and others.
Wong Yat-wa was most impressive (and frustrating) in a Hong Kong TV series called “Looking Back in Anger” (1989) as Deng Yao Gin. Yao Hong’s fierce love, loyalty and feeling of indebtedness for his selfish younger brother Deng Yao Hong led to the family breaking apart, ultimately to the death of his own son.
I remember Miu Giu Wai most in his role as a wu-xia film hero, “Chu Liu Xiang”, where’s always surrounded by beautiful women and never fails to save the helpless.
Andy Lau has come a long way since his Hong Kong TVB days. I remember obsessing about him back in high school and waiting till 3 am to take a solo picture with him (yep, I still have the picture!) after his concert. Somehow, he still looks great after so many years.
With several of my respected actors in this film, I don’t see why not to check it out.
